Here are a few tips to help you get through everyday stress.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Many people feel embarrassed or ashamed to ask for help with how they are feeling, but don’t be! Feeling down or anxious happens to everyone at some point in their lives. Many challenges can be resolved by talking about it. You don’t have to deal with it alone. Tap into resources in your community to find help or talk to a good friend about how you’re feeling.

Keep in touch with family and friends.

You can help beat loneliness by keeping in touch with friends and family members. Being around people that you care about and make you happy can reduce your stress.

Expect things to change.

Things change; it is a part of life. So when things aren’t going your way keep a positive attitude that things will eventually change for the better.

Don’t let stress get the best of you.

Stress can be a major factor in depression or anxiety. If you’re feeling stressed out make sure to take a break and set aside time to relax. Nothing is more important than your health and wellbeing.

Realize you don’t have to please everyone

There is no way that you can make everyone happy all the time. Concentrate on making yourself happy first and you’ll cut out lots of stress and hassle from your life.

Build on your confidence.

If you know you’re good at certain things build on the confidence you take from these activities rather than concentrating on your faults. Try new things that make you happy and that you’re good at—like taking up art or participating in a sport. Make a list of things you love about YOU and read it to yourself in the mirror every morning!

Get involved in your community.

Getting involved in your community can give you a sense of satisfaction that you can’t get from work or school work, so get out there and help others in your community.

Set goals.

Sit down and really think about what you want to accomplish. You’ll be more motivated and positive if you give yourself goals to work towards. And when things get hectic you can always look back to your goals to help you remember what is really important to you.

Eat. Drink. Sleep.

If you’re not eating well, drinking plenty of water, or sleeping a full night’s rest than you’re not going to be at your best. Make sure to eat a good breakfast and to make healthy choices throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water is also important to keep you from dehydration. And make sure to pay attention to your body and get enough sleep. Some experts say that most people need 7-9 hours of sleep a night to function well in their daily lives.
